Ross Vehmeier

Bio

Ross Vehmeier- President, Green Harvest Solutions. 2018 – present

Mr. Vehmeier founded Green Harvest Solutions as a dba of his family’s company, Aquatic Agriculture, Inc. in 2018 and redirected its work from fresh water aquaculture to custom harvesting and, ultimately, as a portable packaging company. Mr. Vehmeier developed a business plan and operations staff and equipment to custom harvest, bale, test, and broker hemp, silage, and other bio-materials for customers in Northern America. 

 

Mr. Vehmeier holds specific operational and financial control of all projects and bidding. He provides direct oversight of procurement activities and agreements with vendors and equipment suppliers. Mr. Vehmeier is an employee-focused leader who builds successful teams and executes by leveraging the power of the people around him.

Joe Green

Bio

Joe Green – VP Operations 2018 – Present

Joe has been a contributing partner in Green Harvest Solutions since 2018. His experiences include field service management for major farm equipment manufacturers, management for budgets and workforce for fortune 500 companies along with ownership and operational responsibilities of a privately held manufacturing company. Currently Joe participates in all aspects of GHS management along with focusing on equipment acquisition, maintenance, and upgrades. Responsibilities also include process development, machine design development, risk management, mitigation, and billing.

Drew Benish

Bio

Drew Benish – Senior Technician 2019 – Present 

Through Drew’s diverse experiences in agriculture and logistics, he offers GHS a valuable perspective focusing on practicality and customer profitability.  He works closely with farmers and manufacturers to help address preservation, packaging, and composting issues; identifying equipment solutions for adding value to products and reducing freight cost.   Drew is responsible for all management and oversight of field operations including all scheduling, production and maintenance, in addition to troubleshooting, technical assistance, and equipment purchasing.

Mitch Geary

Mitchell Geary – Project Engineer 2025 – Present

Mitchell brings a strong technical foundation and a results-driven engineering mindset to the company’s mission of delivering innovative agricultural and sustainability solutions. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville in 2023, where he developed a background in applied mechanics, systems design, and problem-solving. 

At Green Harvest Solutions, Mitchell helps turn technical challenges into reliable, field-ready solutions. He has a broad range of experience in electrical and mechanical systems, allowing him to support projects from concept through implementation. He is known for blending analytical engineering with hands-on execution to improve efficiency, performance, and operational reliability across all of our projects. Mitchell is passionate about building practical, scalable technologies that drive sustainable outcomes and long-term value for agricultural producers.

Kale Buss – Baler Technician & Parts Manager 2020 – Present

Kale is a Technician and Parts Manager at Green Harvest Solutions, specializing in the operation, service, maintenance, and repair of Orkel balers. In addition to hands-on technical support, he manages parts inventory to ensure efficient service and minimal downtime for customers.

As a member of the Green Harvest Solutions team since 2025, Kale is committed to providing reliable support and practical solutions that help customers operate more efficiently and sustainably.

Position Overview

Green Harvest Solutions is seeking a Compost Manager to support an on-farm composting project at a dairy operation in Wisconsin. This role will serve as the on-the-ground lead for compost pile construction, monitoring, and troubleshooting, with a focus on static pile composting of dairy manure and Process to Further Reduce Pathogens (PFRP) compliance.

We are looking for a reliable, hands-on individual who enjoys working outdoors, is curious and motivated to learn, and can think critically to solve problems as they arise. While technical composting experience is a plus, we are willing to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with and supervise compost pile construction using dairy manure and related materials

  • Support static pile composting operations, including scheduled pile turning

  • Monitor and document PFRP compliance, including:

    • Recording internal pile temperatures over required time periods

    • Verifying temperature performance meets project requirements

  • Collect and maintain accurate temperature and operational records

  • Collect compost samples and coordinate laboratory analysis when required

  • Serve as the on-site point of contact during active composting phases

  • Observe pile performance and flag potential issues related to moisture, structure, aeration, or odor

  • Communicate observations, questions, and recommendations clearly to the project team

  • Act as the project’s “eyes and ears” on the ground, helping identify and troubleshoot challenges early

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • Willingness to work outdoors in an agricultural setting
    • Strong interest in composting, agriculture, sustainability, or soil health
    • Ability to learn new processes and follow detailed protocols
    • Comfortable taking initiative and solving practical problems
    • Good communication and record-keeping skills
    • Ability to travel to the Wisconsin project site as needed

    Preferred (but not required):

    • Experience with composting systems, manure management, or farm operations
    • Familiarity with temperature monitoring or data collection
    • Background or coursework in agriculture, environmental science, biology, or a related field
    • Compost operator training or certification (or interest in obtaining one)

Training & Support

  • Green Harvest Solutions will provide on-the-job training, including instruction on compost pile construction, PFRP requirements, temperature monitoring, sampling procedures, and troubleshooting best practices.

Work Schedule & Travel

  • This is a project-based role, with site visits required during key composting activities such as pile construction, monitoring periods, and turning events. Schedule and travel frequency will vary depending on project phase.
